Located just minutes from the A31 near Farnham and Alton, The Rose & Crown is a traditional, and cosy village pub in the heart of Upper Farringdon, Hampshire. Set within the South Downs National Park, enjoying a backdrop of picturesque Hampshire countryside that is immersed in history. It is widely believed that the pub was originally built as an ale house in 1810 by Edward Knight, the brother of the celebrated novelist Jane Austen. Visit the Jane Austen Museum, just 2 miles down the road, in the neighbouring village of Chawton.Known as the ‘hidden gem of Alton’, enjoy freshly prepared, quality food, and a refreshing beer whilst taking in the unparalelled views of the Hampshire countryside. Recently taken over by local pub operator, Thanasi Louridas and business partner Nick Van Breda who also own The White Hart at Holybourne, 6 miles down the road, The Rose & Crown is the newest addition in our expanding portfolio! We're eager to get stuck in and continue the well earned reputation already known by the locals, watch this space for a new menu, new offers and regular live music events to keep you entertained.

Our dedicated team are on hand to help you plan the perfect event with a bespoke food and drinks package. We have a wealth of experience in catering for all types of events, from weddings, wakes and birthday parties to shoot parties and corporate meetings, nothing’s off limits. Head Chef Lucian has perfected his menus using seasonal and locally sourced ingredients with dishes that hit the spot (we think!)
